What we collect
When you click a link to a VPN provider
Links to VPN providers pass through our /go/ redirect. When you use one, we record:
- which provider and which page you clicked from, and the link’s position on that page
- the time of the click
- your country, derived from your IP address (we do not store the IP address itself)
- whether you are on a mobile or desktop device, and your browser’s user-agent string
- the referring page, if your browser sends one
We use this to understand which pages and providers readers find useful. Clicks from automated crawlers are flagged and excluded.
Browsing the site
Reading pages does not create an account and we do not set advertising cookies. If you choose light or dark mode, that preference is stored in your own browser’s local storage and is never sent to us.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your information.
- We don’t show third-party advertising.
- We don’t require an account to read anything.
After you leave
Once you follow a link to a VPN provider, that provider’s own privacy policy applies. If you buy through our link, the provider may tell us a sale occurred so we can be paid a commission; they do not share your personal details with us.
Retention
Click records are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted or aggregated so they no longer relate to an individual visit.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the EU and UK and the CCPA in California — you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it deleted, or to object to its use. Because we don’t store IP addresses or accounts, we usually cannot link a click record to you, but we will help where we can.
